Growing Through Experience at Athena High School

Spending time at my field experience placement at Athena High School has been eye-opening in the best way. After teaching my first lesson, I walked away realizing just how much I still have to learn and how much room I have to grow as an educator. It was one of those moments where the classroom teaches you just as much as you teach the students.

I’m incredibly grateful for the support around me—my professors, who continue to guide me with meaningful feedback, and my amazing SBTE, who models what strong, student-centered teaching looks like every day. Their encouragement has helped me reflect honestly on my practice while also feeling excited about where I’m headed.

Now, with the opportunity to teach my second lesson, I feel energized and ready to improve. I’m looking forward to applying what I learned, strengthening my delivery, and creating a more engaging experience for the students. This journey definitely isn’t easy, but each step reminds me why I love this profession and how much potential there is to grow.
